Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

I wish I could meet more classic rock band members, especially Jimmy Page or Robert Plant. The only classic rock band member I have met is Robbie Krieger from the Doors after a solo show he was playing- he was a very laid back guy!

I know that ClaptonLayla knows Eric Clapton pretty well, but who else on here has met or hung out with famous classic rock band members? And what was your experience? Let's hear it...

Update: Since writing this post, I met Paul McCartney in Hollywood, at Mel's Diner! Talked to him for a bit, very nice guy - I even mentioned this site and gave him my card for this site - so hopefully he has even been on here!

Met the members of ZZ Top back in 1998(backstage pass).
I met Simon and Garfunkel In 1965 before they had hit it big in the USA. It was at a radio station party in Hollywood California. I was fourteen years old at the time and there were so many different celebrities including Petula Clark, she did the song “Downtown.” She was a very sweet, beautiful, and kind lady, treated me like I was an intelligent young woman. I asked Paul Simon for his autograph and he refused. I asked him, sarcastically, “Do you have a broken hand?” And he just mumbled, yea. Whereas Art Garfunkel was extremely gracious and signed my autograph and talked to me a bit. Paul Simon may be a great Song writer, but he’s a real jerk. He wasn’t even famous and he already was arrogant.

Holy crap! I'll bet you have some stories to tell. That's quite an impressive list. What about Elvis?

Who was the coolest person of them all though?

And can you take out the people that aren't classic rock? ;)

Lol a few and more than a few engaged in illegal activities while they were in Chicago but now I am clean but I still I can not talk about it on an open forum and one I even was locked up with once lol! But fairly recently I met the new re vamped Foghat nothing illegal I am clean almost 7 years got all of their autographs and even have one Brian as a friend on my myspace page who was really cool because we got to talking about my E-bay store and I mentioned that I used the first King Crimson cover as my logo and he replied that he loved their music and so we instantly had something in common. I talk to a few people from time to time in the industry that are on the cusp making lps with guitar gods like Michael Schenker and even had a writer writing a book call and ask a few weeks ago about my feelings on controversial lp covers. I also have a lot of autographs but not all of them I got myself thats so much cooler Getting back to the Controversial album covers book Well I mentioned some of the first that popped in my mind with the Stones and he had just interviewed Mick and asked about UFO and some of theirs well that Michaels sister had just became my friend the day before and Amy Schugar calls and emails me she is a kick ass guitarist herself that made an album with him and he was interviewing Rudolph Schenker because of the Scorpions covers later that day so that was cool its like we are all connected through the alpha and omega E-Bay and myspace the beginning and the end lol!
My dear you must put yourself in their shoes they have probably all had bad experiences with crazed fans and it matters where and what they were doing when you interrupted them probably some can not even go out without being chased down like animals but I guess thats the price of fame they have to live with they sure make money but not as much as before to many people dipping into their money coiffures lol! Especially with the piracy I know some friends brag that they will never pay again. I still do sometimes in the hundreds a week because I have to have something tangible that I could see and feel in my hands lol! I guess I drifted off course again sorry I love all of those people to Christine and have most of their work King Crimson was my favorite alternative though from that period and ironic but both ELP and Yes had ex members that were in King crimson lol!
Wow, as I sat down to write my list I realized all three of these guys are dead now :( Pretty sad. I have never hung out with a band but I have met Rod Price (Foghat), Robbin Crosby (Ratt) and STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN. Meeting Stevie was incredible, he was so sweet.
20 yrs ago I was lucky to meet a bunch of them. Jimmy page, Dio, zak wilde, tommy tutone (remember him) Manny from nazareth, pat travers.... I am probably forgetting some. I worked a bar that attracted whichever musician happened to be in Reno at the time........ I think Dio was one of the nicest men Ive ever met........ oh yeah I partied with animal from tower of power too..........

Only indirectly. In 1972, I was a long haired hippie freak. My girlfriend at the time was too. We broke up, a week later she spent a week as Mick Jaggers love interest when the band stayed a week on Sanibel Island Florida. I did not believe her until she showed me pictures.

Well as far as Classic Rock Bands, I've gotten to meet Carlos Santana and Chester Thompson,Raul Rekow,Alponso Johnson and Armando Peraza of The SANTANA Band...It was in San Antonio Tx at the Sunken Gardens Ampatheater on The Freedom Tour in 1987.  I'm a Big SANTANA Fan so this was a Big Moment for me....It was Great.

Sunken Garden. What a great venue!
