42 years and His influence is still as strong and His music still as exciting to hear.
The day Hendrix died I was in H.S. in the girl's bathroom with my cousin and a couple other girls, who would go in the head,in order to smoke( I was just in there hanging out with them, but ,have always been a non-smoker).Anyway a couple of other girls ran into the bathrm and made the announcement that Jimi Hendrix was dead and we were totally shocked and devastated! We didn't want to believe that it was actually true and not some type of rumor. We were so upset that we even cried over it cuz we were major fans of his.
I agree with all the other comments that it was really a shame that we lost that kind of talent, same thing with J. Morrison, Joplin, and others,at such a young age. Their music does live on and that ain't no lie. Some of those tribute bands are like the next best thing to the real thing, from my own experience. Have you ever been experienced? Well I have! * ^ *
Jimi Hendrix: The Complete Experience

5th Oct 1966, Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell, and Noel Redding played together for the first time. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed.
So much happened 41 years ago that affected my life forever. On September 18, 1970 Jimi Hendrix died. I had seen him perform live ten times and no one ever blew me away like he did.

Jimi may very well have been the most talented musician I ever photographed. It almost seemed as if he was one with the guitar. I'm sure that sounds corny, but it's true. There were few I ever saw that were one with an instrument in the way Hendrix always was (one that comes to mind is Clapton) It is always in sane imagining what this man would have accomplished if it were not for his early demise. In such a short amount of time he changed music forever. I would say these photos sum up the experience pretty well.

Welcome Amstell13,
as far as I have heard was Jimi not too keen about Zep, however he was never really judgemental, that was not his style. Do not underestimate "Hey Baby" and "Electric Ladyland" - Hendrix was a musician of a caliber like Bach or Beethoven.
