well I KNOW I'm not off as far as the date of Mike's death is concerned because my Brother and Sister-in-Law went to his Memorial Service...the date on the website is wrong!! Mike recorded numerous Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin concerts in LA ..in fact his recording of the "Song Remains the Same" at the LA Forum from the 5th row from the Led Zep North American Tour of '75 I believe is on one of Their Box Sets.
i think youre 2 yrs off on when he died. and sure most of his tapes werent available to others just as anyone who does taping since the majority of peoples recordings arent of that much interest to most people. but the best and most popular ones made it out. the ones no one cared about might not have. i collected recordings myself and did much taping too. while i dont think it makes any sense to hoard ones own recordings and keep them from the world it doesnt matter much since most performances make it out. i have over 120000 concerts in my collection. ill never be able to listen to them all. i get new things every day. and then theres official cds. omg. over 100000 of those. im 53 now so even if i listened to music non stop til i die ill never hear all i have. i stopped doing my own recordings at concerts in 95 (i started in 80 altho much more avidly in 87) and many times i was the only one who was there recording the event. yes many of those tapes never got out. i guess thats just how it works.
Hi Darth...I've seen this website before...the Wikipedia one about Mike Millard...but from what I understand most of Mike's recordings aren't available. When he passed away in 1992 his family kept them as Mementoes...his Mother even kept his room as He left it! (Mike lived at home when he passed away).
shirley - u may wanna check out this wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Millard
i never knew mike but i have been collecting rare recordings since the 70s. many of his recordings have been in my collection for over 30 yrs.
Hi Jimmy, I was reading over your list of Pink Floyd shows and a name STOOD out...Mike Millard! He was a friend of ours who recorded MANY shows! As far as I know his tapes aren't available since he is deceased. His Family has them ...just letting you know...Shirley
