Comment by Hope Hall on October 6, 2012 at 4:54pm ok, my singer would be Peter Gabriel because he is so vocally creative and extremely charasmatic. My guitarist is Jimmie Page; he's the man! Bass player, Chris Squire, his solo's have brought me to tears they were so beautiful. Drummer: simply the best ever, Neil Peart. Keyboards: this was tough but I went with Keith Emerson since he was very driven in his playing the couple of times I saw ELP. I picked Peter Grant just because.....I read once he was a great manager and I don't sweat this area.

Jon Lord, Jack Bruce, Robert Plant, Cozy Powell and Tony Iommi.
Gary Moore is pretty good too.
Comment by Michael Couch on August 11, 2012 at 9:55am Vocals: Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)/Drums: Neil Peart (Rush)/Bass: Geddy Lee (Rush)/Guitar: Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
Comment by Enrique Figueroa on July 30, 2012 at 5:34pm Though Ian Gillan; Jimi Hendrix; Chris Squire; Carl Palmer and Rick Wakeman are probably at the top of my list in their respective categories, I think that they would sound terrible together! Sometimes the best is not necessarily the best!
Comment by Jennifer Dillon on July 5, 2012 at 2:17pm Singer Jim Morrison, Lead Guitar Eric Clapton, Bass Paul McCartney, Keyboards Steve Winwood and Drums Ringo Starr.

David Gilmour and Jimmy Page twin leads, John Entwhistle bass, Moon and Bonham percussion, Keith Emerson Keys. Joni Mitchell and Robert Plant on vocals.
Vocals - Paul Rodgers
Lead Guitar - Jimmy Page
Bass - Geddy Lee
Keyboards Kieth Emerson
Drums - Neil Peart

Vocals: The late great James Dewar of the Robin Trower Band
Guitar: David Gilmour
Guitar: Jimmy Page
Bass: Geddy Lee
Keyboards: Tom Scholz of Boston
Drums: Neil Peart
Manager: Me
Hey, it's MY fantasy band! LOL
Sorry, managed by Peter Grant. Anyone who can manage a band like Led Zeppelin and take them to the height that they got to can manage anything!
Well now, here is my selection, they'e not necessarily who I think are the best but I think they would make an interesting sound.
Vocals: Stevie Nicks
Lead Guitar: Eric Clapton
Guitar: Paul Kossoff
Bass: Jack Bruce
Drums: Ginger Baker
Keyboards: Rick Wakeman
Here is a band made from names that aren't mentioned from the choice list: And why???
vocals:Steve Marriot
guitarist:Stevie Ray Vaughn
bass:Billy Cox
drummer:Ian Paice
keyboards:Steve Winwood
manager:Bill Curbishley - managed The Who and Jimmy Page.

WELL HERE IT IS.....
Singer ~ JANIS JOPLIN,
GUITARIST ~ JIMI HENDRIX,
BASS ~ PHILL LYNOTT,
DRUMMER ~ JOHN BOHNHAM,
KEYBOARDS ~ GREG ALLMAN,
ROCK MANAGER ~ PETER GRANT
Whoever put the names on these lists doesn't have a clue! They don't have a clue mostly because of the names left off.
How can whoever gave us these choices leave off Stevie Ray Vaughn, Michael Schenker, Frank Zappa, Leslie West, Robin Trower & Alvin Lee for guitarists? I need an explanation!
Bill Wyman should not be a choice for bassists. You should have added Tim Boggart, Billy Cox, Noel Redding or Geezer Butler.
Steve Marriot shouldn't be on the list for guitarists, but he should definitely be on the list for vocalists! Jagger, Bowie & Nicks are horrible singers! Hendrix has a good voice. He should have been on that list before the ones I mentioned. No Eric Burdon? What about Peter Gabriel? Ronnie James Dio? Steve Marriot? Glenn Hughes? Phil Moog(UFO)? WOW...
Missed drummers badly! Where is Buddy Miles? Ian Paice? Bill Ward? Carmine Appice? Bill Bruford? Somon Kirke? Cozy Powell? Fleetwood, Mason, Watts & Starr don't belong.
Please explain yourself.

Comment by Tangerine71 on July 1, 2011 at 2:09pm I think this would be amazing
vocals-Freddie Mercury
guitar-Santana
bass-Geddy Lee
drums-Neil Peart
keyboard-John Paul Jones
It may sound weird. I love the Lee/Peart coupling, and frankly wouldn't want to hear either one with anyone else. Santana has created, in my opinion, some truly beautiful music, and given the versatility of Freddie's voice I think they would make a very interesting pair. Jonesy's keyboard playing is just as phenomenal as his bass playing. I think if he was coupled with Freddie and Santana, they could put together some truly inspiring melodies.
Vocals-Plant
Drums-Bonham
Bass-JPJ
Guitar-Page
Keyboards-Winwood
Manager-Grant
Ok, if I had to go with non LZ it would be this:
Guitar-Jimi Hendrix
Drums-Mitch Mitchell
Bass-John Entwistle
Vocals-Steve Marriott
Keyboards-John Paul Jones
Manager-Peter Grant
Here's my all time classic rock band:
Bon Scott - Vocals
Joe Perry - Guitar
Ted Nugent-Guitar
Geezer Butler - Bass
Keith Moon - Drums
They would create some all killer no filler rock and roll!
Comment by Eddiye on May 9, 2011 at 4:33pm Well, the poll was for best at each position. Here's my team, including some real surprises and unknowns! This was soooooo hard. Had to leave out guys like Greg Lake...
Guitar - Jimmy Page. Easy. Not the greatest technically, but... songwriting, producing, arranging, vision, creativity, stage presence (yes, that's a pun). Pure star power. VERSATILITY! Alternatives: Brian May, David Gilmour.
Drums - Alan White. After some thought, actually easy. Can do plenty of technically great stuff prog-wise, but can still bring the thunder as well as anybody with tremendous feeling and timing. Throw in some tasty percussion at times, backing vox, songwriting and waaaaaay more VERSATILITY than most drummers. Alternative: Ian Paice. Hard Rock Alternatives: John Bonham, Cozy Powell.
Bass - Carey Ziegler of Crack The Sky. A Baltimore/Annapolis regional fave. Technically awesome player, phenomenal and magnetic live performer. Backing vox also. Alternatives: Chris Squire (imagine that!), John Entwhistle.
Guitar - Joe Satriani. Of all the six-string wizards, he's the best SONGWRITER (most other guys just seem to blow exotic scales over weird chord changes in bizarre time signatures as fast as they can). Very versatile and melodic. Knows when to lay back and serve the song and when to cut loose. Adds a modern touch. Likes to experiment. Some (bad) backing vox. No alternatives.
Lead Vox - Annie Haslam of Renaissance. Six octaves of pure, crystal-clear and angelic power. Adds a prog touch to the earthy guys. Very romantic lyricist and songwriter. She's GORGEOUS also! Alternatives: Ann Wilson, k.d. lang. This one was a TOUGH decision.
Keys - Sam Brown, English singer/songwriter. The best unknown single musician I know of. I love Keith Emerson, but... too much for this application. I adore Elton John, but he does piano only, and the show is focused all on him. Sam plays piano/organ/keys mainly, but throw in some bass and ukulele also. OUTSTANDING songwriter - as great as Sheryl Crow is, Sam should be ten times as big. And not just backing vox, she's a great bona fide lead singer with an airy voice to compliment Annie. Alternatives: Jon Lord, Rick Wright. AND SHE'S GORGEOUS ALSO!
This was brutal. Let's throw in Macca wherever he wants to fit in - some melodic bass playing here, some acoustic picking there. Awesome songwriting and vocals everywhere!
NO MUSIC NO LIFE!
