Deep Purple - More than Just 'Smoke on the Water' - Your Favorite Songs?

Deep Purple are of those bands that are always mentioned when it comes to classic rock - often due to their classic 'smoke on the water' song. But many of their truly great songs are overlooked and underplayed on the radio.

Two of my favorite songs by them are Highway Star and Hush. But what are everyone else's favorite Deep Purple songs? I will be the first to admit that I definitely need to hear more of their songs too! Let's hear what you all think...

Rich to many they have a whole back log of stuff from all different versions of the band and its strange but I love them all. Its even more difficult to pick a lp. I think right on my playlist is a song with Steve Morse on guitar that is just what you are talking about.
I always loved DP since i was 9-10 years old,
"Lazy" was for many years my wakeup song, the words say it all :)
the song that got me into DP was "Black Night" (still blowing full blast on my car stereo)
and it has always been a more favourite song for me than "Smoke on the water"
for me Ritchie Blackmore ranks with Page ,Hendrix....
and Ian Paice with John Bonham ,Carl Palmer , Cozy Powell....
i had the pleasure of attending DP concerts in the early 70s in London, mind blowing performances.
and a very memorable concert of Rainbow at Rainbow Theater in mid 70s
amazing crystal clear sound , you could hear a needle dropping on the floor
with the fantastic Cozy Powell on drums
have a listen to the live version of Kill The King and pay attention to the double bass drums
just amazing!!! (eat you heart out all you Bonham fans - just kidding : ) )
the last DP album i bought was Come Taste the Band
and thats when DP lost the "magic" for me.
Space Truckin', Hush, Highway Star, Black Night, Emmeretta, Hallelujah, Perfect Strangers.
haha we have the same favorite other songs. Highway Star and Hush.

A great band, one of the unholy triumvirate along with Sabbath and Zeppelin. A few faves of mine :

Child in time

Soldier of fortune

Strange kind of woman

Burn

Speed King

The mule

Space truckin'

Woman from Tokyo

Stormbringer

The Gypsy

From 'In Rock' up to 'Stormbringer' are worth checking out as most are very good to excellent (1970-74).
