AAaaagghh! How can you even contemplate posing a question like this Rich? It's non-starter!
The Beatles are the best-selling band or musical act in history, with estimated sales of over one billion units according to Guinness World Records.[2] They have had more number-one albums on the UK charts and have held the top spot longer than any other musical act. According to the RIAA, as of 2012 they have sold 177 million units in the US, more than any other artist, and in 2008 they topped Billboard magazine's list of the all-time most successful Hot 100 artists. As of 2012, they hold the record for most number-one hits on the Hot 100 chart with 20. They have received 7 Grammy Awards from the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score and 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. They were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most influential people.
ENOUGH SAID?!!!
I don't know dude, for me I'd rather compare ELO to the Beatles than Oasis. I personally hated them from the get go.
And by the way ELO no way trumps to the Beatles I just think it would have been a better comparison.
The Beatles, theres no contest!
Noel Gallagher attempting to sing Help. Oh dearie me, how painfull is this?!
Obviously there is no contest really, as everyone already said, but one thing I will say about Oasis is that they wrote lots of anthemic songs that whole stadiums of people will sing along to, a bit like Queen in that respect actually. Definitely Maybe was a decent album, I always thought Blur were a more interesting band though. But you can't compare them with the Beatles, the Monkees would be more apt, ha ha!
Artists are still inspired by the Beatles music to this day. Oasis is great but the Beatles' songs are what made them so incredible. Oasis's songs are catchy but not transcendent. John's songs have even reached Bermudian artists. http://www.doublefantasybermuda.com/shop/
