And who knows... maybe a classic rock station will be kind enough to let you play your classic rock playlist live on air for everyone to hear (a subtle hint to the classic rock station's around the world...)

Here is my playlist... I went for some classics plus a few underplayed great songs:

1: The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

* "Call Any Vegetable"/"Invocation & Ritual Dance of the Young Pumpkin"/"Soft-Sell Conclusion"; I have the original LP and it lists the song numbers as 3A, 3B and 3C.

1. Stairway to Heaven (Led Zep)
2. Like a Rolling Stone (Dylan)
3. Gimme Shelter ( Rolling Stones)
4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Beatles)
5. A Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum)
6. Comfotably Numb (Pink Floyd)
7. Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who)
8. All Along the Watchtower ( Jimi Hendrix)
9. Dear Mr. Fantasy (Traffic)

10. I'd Love to Change the World (Ten Years After)
Rush - Freewill. Has the music and one of my favourite philostophies (sic).
Deep Purple - Rat Bat Blue (a heavy riff number IMHO overlooked by even those who like heavy riff numbers).
Grand Funk (Railroad) - Bad Time (great tune, well arranged)
Black Sabbath - Wheels of Confusion (structure, dynamics, rhythm and temp changes and O.O. sounded his most suitable).
Nazareth - Don't Judas Me (why this is not a staple of radio I dunno). Mind you I don't listen to the radio... maybe this is why...
Jimi Hendrix - Spanish Castle Magic (or Machine Gun from Band of Gypsies).
Rainbow - Stargazer (arguably THE rainbow number), some people might argue Catch The Rainbow and then I'd also agree... ;)
Eric Clapton - Let It Grow (the accidental near re-write of Stairway...)
Led Zeppelin - No Quarter (from The Song Remains The Same - either version)
Rolling Stones - Time Waits For No One (Superb. One of Mick Taylor's finest moments). The rest of the band do quite well an' all)...

... that's the first hour... ;)

That reminds me, a few years ago I heard a track by Pink. The backing was the entire rock part of Fresh Garbage. Not sure if it was a straight lift or another recording  - don't know the title of her tune but there we go.

Back on the classic rock track - Zeppelin used to cover this (Fresh Garbage) when first touring...

When JP releases the Zep 1 box I hope v.v.v. much that a studio (or concert  take - from the first 2 US tours ) of this "only-alternatively" ;) available number becomes available. The Zeppelin arrangement is quite different from the Mimms soul original and would have been a mind blowing inclusion on the first album. Or the second. Or Coda. Shame it wasn't recorded for the BBC Sessions...

Ironic title given how we don't actually HAVE it... it, um, has to fight it's way out of darkness one day...

Yes, there's been alternate takes of You Shook Me and Babe, I'm Gonna Leave you that have been around for a while. Not to mention the guitar organ instrumentals loosely based on the Babe I'm Gonna Leave you themes - but bearing not much resemblance to that number.

Given the conservatism of JP's choices for archive exploration (I would have thought a 4 CD version of the BBC Sessions (16LPs!) should have been officially available) for example, I wonder how much there will be that will justify a box set. Although what constitute a box set format (3 CDs or more?) I'm not sure. I really hope for material that has not been unofficially available.

Oh, I just thought of something he could release (for '70 III or ' 71 IV) - the jam Zeppelin had with CSNY. I read Peter Grant claimed the tapes - hopefully they are preserved somewhere awaiting release.
