Kiss. Fake rockers or classic rockers?
Now this is a band that have always confused the hell out of me. A bunch of dudes dressed in leather, wearing lots of makeup and sticking their tongues out like snakes, while not playing particularly great music (just like hootie and blowfish).
Hmmm. And you never even hear much of their songs on the radio. Yet, they are one of the biggest bands of all time, and have sold millions of records. But I NEVER hear anyone talk about them, or their music - and believe me I have lots of friends who are big into classic music. It makes no sense. So come on everyone, lets get a good old discussion about them going. I could certainly use some education about a band whose only song I know is 'God Gave Rock and Roll to You'. Good song, but surely they have better? Or don't they? Lets hear your thoughts...

i get the feeling kiss is liken to disco,that is to say alot of people enjoy there music(including me)but not many people really want to admit it.....i dig em ok. god of thunder & rock-n-roll

Did KISS sell out? Sure they did and for me that effects their standing but I do enjoy the music they made and they are fun to see in concert. Beth, God of thunder, Hard luck woman, and Detroit rock city, all bring back memories. I just heard them on the radio yesterday.

Come on. You've heard "Rock and Roll All Night" millions of times. What about "Lick it Up"? That's songwriting at its finest! Those guys are showmen and shrewd businessmen. They took merchandising to the limit and cashed in, baby. I remember the public uproar when the "Alive" album was "unmasked" as being heavily overdubbed and manipulated in the studio afterwards. I was a little disappointed too, but I still like that album. Paul Stanley's got a great voice, one of the hairiest chests in rock, and the "Iceman" is a cool-looking guitar. Gene Simmons is a pompous ass. Who were those other guys again?........:)

I think this is one of those "you had to be there to get it" topics. I was a dumb little kid who worshiped KISS in the 70's, so I have nothing but good things to say about them. Doubters should check out the Kissology Volume 1 dvd

In this discussion I am as confused as Rich. They are the big "KISS" BAM! BLAST! KAWOOM! But I really don't hear the music. I am a younger generation, and I just know them, because of their weird and creepy animal/drag queen make-up. And "I was made for loving you" is the only song I know....
