Classic Rockers Network

Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

Hey all - I just started this forum topic so that everyone on here can introduce themselves, and tell the world all about their classic rock passion!

Anyway, I am the Founder of this website, so here is all about me...

My name is Rich Page, and I have been into classic rock since I was 15. I have always wanted to create a classic rock fan website - and created my first classic rock website in 1996 (when the internet was just a baby) all about the Doors. I was very proud of it.

Back in January 2008, I decided to get ambitious and create a classic rock online community! And so, classic rockers network was born!

To tell you a little bit more about me, I am originally from England, and now live in Hollywood, after spending 6 years in San Diego. In addition to being a hugely passionate classic rock fan, I also love improving websites and lucky for me my regular job lets me do that - I am a web analyst for Disney Online. I also love watching and collecting great movies, doing karaoke (badly), bowling, eating great food (love mexican and sushi in particular). So that's about it.

Lets hear from all you other classic rock fans out there! Start introducing yourselves...

You are so lucky! I wish I was able to see these guys...what wonderful memories and stories you must have :)

Hi Rich and everyone else. I too grew up in England and never left.

My brother is 12 years my senior, and he spent much of his teen years brainwashing me with classic rock music. By the time I was 7 years old I was loving the Stones, The Who, The Beatles, Sabbath, Led Zep and Tull along with many others. By the time I was ten I was discovering a few for myself, such as Rush, Budgie and Floyd. I am eternally grateful to him for forcing classic rock upon me. I love it.

Apart from great music I have a passion for writing, history, great comedy, films, walking, reading and improving my mind. I work for Royal Mail and live in Somerset with my two Daughters. I am single, after separating with my wife 5 years ago. My daughters - especially the youngest - like a bit of CR too.

This site is all kinds of awesome :)

G'day btw, Shannon from Australia here. Next Gen of classic rock fan. My mum got me into KISS as a kid and the oldies radio stations were where I got most of my music taste from there. Grew into one of those "They just don't make it like they used to" kind of people, which sounds ridiculous coming from someone in their 20's but it's fact =P

Hopefully this site saves me having to surf through tens of different band forums on a weekly basis just to find people to chat to about what actually interests me :)

I love my music, Rock, Classic Rock- especially Led Zeppelin! <That's why I'm now on Classic Rockers forum...lol>! I am a hippie-child from the 60's and grew up listening to Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Doors, The Stones, Cream, Aerosmith, Jimi, Black Sabbath...I was fortunate enough to live in Atlanta, Ga near The Omni growing up & attended many live concerts in the 80's & 90's...I currently live in Panama City, Fl - on the world's most beautiful beaches; I have wonderful children, a great husband & family and a really blessed life. **And I love, love, LOVE all things Jimmy Page!!!!!!!!

I started tuning out from MTV as a teen.

Once we got a digital cable package that had VH1 Classic, I started to take in the many classic rock bands they had on that channel, and more. Sometimes I got my fix from listening to what was then WARW (now WIAD), the classic rock station in Washington. Knowing that a radio station like that had only a limited playlist, I went to the file-sharing sites, YouTube, and later internet radio and Grooveshark and slowly increased my knowledge of rock music in general; in doing so I was able to get into bands classic rock radio would not play.

I have more than five artists I can consider favorites: Frank Zappa is #1 in my book. Supertramp, Roxy Music, The Clash, The Who, Electric Light Orchestra, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks, Gentle Giant and 10cc are other bands I listen to on a normal basis. Even bands outside the U.S. and U.K., such as Split Enz (New Zealand), Can (Germany) and Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (Italy) are worth a listen.

As for non-classic rock bands I like, there are a few, mostly concentrated on the 1970s and 1980s. As much as I like classic rock, there are times when Madness gets more plays than Zappa.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and I look forward to discussing classic rock!

Hey Guys!!

I'm Nic (Nicola....but I only get called that when I'm in trouble)
I'm from the North West of England and I have been listening to Classic Rock since I was born lol! I have my Dad to thank for that. My earliest memory as a child is watching/listening and dancing to Dave Lee Roth Just a Gigalo Video and California girls! My mum and dad had to tell me that the video didnt belong to them, and they had to give it back to their friend David because he wanted it back. It was actually just put on a really high shelf because they were sick of listening to it....I was 5. M first concert was in the nearby city of Carlisle to see an English Classic Rock band Thunder. I was 9 and since then Ive seen them 17 more times!

I love festivals and gigs and try and go to as many as possible, I have a list of bands to see before I die, and in my ripe old age of 25 :-p I have got 3 bands left. Sabbath, ZZ top and Zeppelin.

Music makes my world go round, and I am so happy I saw this advertised on Faebook! Hello to you all! Can't wait to get to know you!

Hey everybody!

I'm Petra, 17, and live in Zagreb, Croatia. I must say I was so happy and excited to find this network. It's amazing and it' really nice to meet people who share the same compassion for classic rock.

The first band that got me to classic rock was The Doors when I was 15. Since then I also have been collecting the Doors photos and today I'm a proud owner of more than 600 photos. It's a very small collection, but a precious one to me.

The other bands I like are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who and The Beatles.

Welcome Petra! Thanks for joining and uploading some of your amazing Doors photos - love the ones with Pamela Courson in particular! Hope to see more from you on here soon!

Hi All...Kind of an "old" hippie and miss actually experiencing all the great music of years gone by. I listen to all the same stuff I grew up on. My kids (now adults) remember that the car only would work when it was palying mama's music! My yaya's (chosen sisters) and I raised all our kids on our music and they know the words, the bands and listen to it themselves! I find a few types of music now that I can appreciate but most of it is so synthetic that I just don't "experience " it...

My mom raised me listening to Janis, Jimi, Santana, Aretha just to name a few...Thank you Mom!

Went to see Gregg Allman a few months back and had 2 twenty somethings in front of us "SHHHing" us...we were listening to Allman Brothers before they were born! They quickly moved!

Life long soundtracks are a very cool way to remember and to sooth your soul.

Thanks for a place to share with likeminded people!
