No one can deny the amazing talent of the Beatles as a great foursome. But who had more influence on their direction and talent? Many people often say without John Lennon the Beatles would have been no where near as big. But myself, along with others, think that the Beatles probably would have fallen apart without Paul McCartney. Who do you think was more important? And do you think the Beatles would have been as good without either of them? Love to hear your thoughts...

I agree George Martin was the be all and end all of the production of The Beatles albums........and by his side? Paul...the rest of them didn't really have the brains to get into the technical stuff, so in my opinion it was George and Paul, George Martin that is, Harrison in my opinion was the weakest of the four....and it definitely shows in his solo albums, The Travelling Wilburys were good.

Well, let's remember that about 90% of the Beatles' compositions were Lennon/McCartney, meaning they both wrote these songs together. Without the other, the Beatles wouldn't be nearly as good. As for who had more influence on their direction and talent, I'd definitely say John Lennon (for the early years at least). Up until Magical Mystery Tour, John Lennon was the leader of the band, and was the face of the Beatles in the public eye. However, Paul assumed this role after disagreements began to take place within the band. It was Paul that kept them together to make amazing music throughout their last few albums, which in my opinion were some of their best. Paul McCartney just wanted wanted to make music, which is why he tried so hard to lead everyone in the direction he though would result in the best outcome. It was inevitable, though, that each member of the Beatles were musicians by themselves and were going to break up in order to pursue whatever life they chose. If I had to choose, I'd go with Paul. He was the most versatile musician in the band.

Well for Christmas I received three Beatles presents, from three different people!! A calendar, A DVD Here There and Everywhere,a book My 50 years with The Beatles in a box, and a Book Entitled - You Never Give Me Your Money.
