I agree with Rich's comment from July 9 2008. I was a teenager when Grunge became popular, Nirvana were one of my favorite bands and I still remember perfectly all the buzz about them during the Nevermind era, they were very good and Cobain got back the classic rock star image/charisma that, in my opinion, had been lost during the 80's, I would wait another 8 or 10 years to put them under the Classic Rock definition, and I really am not quite sure if Nirvana would fit into the genre, if…

If anyone's interested here's the link to a site I made some years ago with scans of Nirvana stuff I collected mainly from my teenage years (1991-1995) has a lot of stuff from the Nevermind era.

No way!

Perhaps nirvana is 'rock' music that has indeed become 'classic,' but i dont think people mean just that when they say classic rock--so no way is nirvana classic rock! To me it's definitely a sound. Nirvana is too far away from blues to me, i think, to be classic rock, and its not the right era to be grandfathered in.

What about 'real' rock n roll, in your(anybody's) opinion, did they bring 'back'? Its not a rhetorical question. They put out some good stuff, but i…

SRV is in a class of his own so we won't even go there

Metallica is one of my favorite bands...I was under the impression we were having a debate about the so-called "hair bands" my bad......the GNR comment was geared towards that, but yes I do think they were one of the best out of the decade.

U2....let's see. The last U2 song I liked was Where the Streets Have No Name....my fave of theirs is still Sunday Bloody Sunday. And after seeing It Might Get Loud I'm even less…

Um no.....no one said the 80s was the best. We said we thought it was good/great. I agree that the 60s and 70s were better. I've noticed in general that people are partial to music they grew up with....I'm a child of the 80s, so I like it. Could you be a child of the 90s? 80s music was primarily good time music-no one had any pretensions, or tried to be profound or deep.

Zeppy is right, music is 100% subjective. That said Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers suck.....especially the Peppers. None bring back the feel of the 70s to me-a lot of the heart found in music from the 70s/60s is missing from it....today's music as well. It's all cold, over-processed and impersonal.
Made more legendary by his de…tag:www.classicrockersnetwork.com,2011-07-03:1599616:Comment:877762011-07-03T20:29:59.931ZZeppyhttps://www.classicrockersnetwork.com/profile/Zeppy
