Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

40 years ago today, as I write this post, one of the most celebrated and momentous concerts of all time was occuring in the sleepy town of White Lake, N.Y. It was called 'Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music', with 32 bands playing, half a million people reveling in the moment, and even with 2 births!

I simply cannot imagine the elation and amazement of being at the Woodstock concert - I only wish I was there to celebrate this epitomy of the summer of love. I am sure quite a few of those reading this were lucky enough to see it in person!

So in honor of this once in a lifetime concert, I have put together a series of great Woodstock videos to watch, highlighting some of the great music that was playing, great moments, and great interviews and retrospectives.

First of all, we have an introductory video to the build up of Woodstock - which organziers only expected around 50,000 people to come. Certainly not half a million that ended up coming:

Creedence Clearwater Revival playing Born on the Bayou at 3am Friday Night:

Interview with Richie Havens, who was one of the first to play at Woodstock:

Santana at end of his set on saturday night, playing Soul Sacrifice:

Max Yasgur, owner of the farm Woodstock was on, talking live on stage:

The queen of classic rock, Janis Joplin, singing 'Work Me Lord' late saturday night:

The Who at 4am on saturday night playing See Me, Feel Me:

Jimmy Hendrix playing a now legendary version of the National Anthem on sunday:

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young playing sunday night - Suite: Judy Blue Eyes:

A great 'rain chant' during the middle of one of the main rainy times at Woodstock:

Crosby, Stills and Nash recount their amazing Woodstock experience:

And don't forget to check out the upcoming movie 'Taking Woodstock', all about the formation of the Woodstock event - its going to be amazing - here is the trailer:

Hope you all enjoyed this little tribute to a legendary concert - please feel free to post your feelings about Woodstock - especially for those of you that were lucky enough to witness it in person!

Woodstock was a beautiful thing. Music, love, peace, mud, and skinny dipping.
What could be better? :)
Great job on the tribute, Rich! If you want to listen to some of the "previously unreleased" music from Woodstock, listen on Classic Artists Today - syndicated radio show. For show times and how to tune-in visit - http://www.classicartiststoday.com/schedule.php Peace and Love from The CAT!
lyk it's a miracle that I can wake up every morning and look at my own reflection, it's a miracle that I can live with myself; you know I never went to THE WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL. Well I'm just going to cover my shame wearing a brown paper bag over my head cut out eye holes and mouth hole (so I can smoke on my hookah). My atonement for my sins is to get the woodstock 40th edition on blu-ray, hopefully my sins of not going will be forgiven. Until then I'm drowning my sorrows in the goddess Joplin juice of good 'Ol SOUTHERN COMFORT and puffing away on my hookah oh ya not to forget partaking of the green faerie.
they asked John for the Beatles and he said no - instead he offered the Plastic Ono Band they said no - read the set list only one song appears twice Litlle help from my friends - once by Havens and once by Cocker
Awesome
Before performing at Woodstock, Carlos Santana did a lot of acid. As he played soul sacrifice, he started to see his guitar become a snake. Watch the soul sacrifice video again and pay attention to the look on Carlos' face. This is absolutely true.
also, MICHAEL SCHRIEVE'S SOLO IS RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
