Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

Back in the 60s and 70's, classic rock bands often covered songs by other classic rock bands. And some of the better current bands do some great cover versions too. And some of them did versions even better than the original! What are your favorites?

Here are a few of my more famous favorites:

- Gloria by The Doors (originally by Van Morrison)
- Love Reign O'ver Me by Pearl Jam (originally by The Who)

And this one is pretty rare!
- Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band by Jimi Hendrix (originally by the Beatles)

At least half of the Covers from Johnny Kidd and the Pirates "Shakin' All Over". There must be over a hundred covers of this song, from Led Zeppelin all the way down to The Who..but my personal favorite Cover of this song is the one from the band named "Brave Belt"(which later changed its name to Bachman-Turner Overdrive)

Aerosmith's cover of "(Remeber) Walking in the sand", by the Shangri La's

Although my brother, and my first influence in classic rock, can't stand it, I love Manfred Mans cover of Bruce Springsteens' "Blinded by the Light".

There are some GREAT suggestions made in this discussion.  Hard to argue with Along the Watchtower by Hendrix.  I'll also suggest ANY LZ cover by Heart.  ESPECIALLY their version of Stairway at the Kennedy Center Honors.
