I grew up with vinyl (which most have) Then cd's came out and the sound was incredible. So what sounds better and why do you say so? In my findings, if I want to listen to say Pink Floyd - I choose cd b/c i can hear everything perfect as the studio sound presents it. On the other hand if I want to listen to Frampton Comes Alive- vinyl is my choice b/c of the sound that would be sterilized by a compact disc. So what is your fav? and why?

Yes you can..........put it in the microwave. And you also get a light show!

My reply would probably be the same as yours.

I am not an audiophile by no means but I did have the chance to do a taste test between analog and digital. For my crispy old ears analog has that thick, fat, full sound where digital gets kinda flat in comparison. Given the cash to go shopping it would be vinyl and analog but for the portability and convenience it's Cd's and digital.

Got to thinking about this post.......to clarify: in my version of reality I have labeled tube type amplifiers analog and the solid state transistor (sst) amps as digital. I know that's not necessarily correct but it's my version of reality. So an album through a tube type amp versus the cd through a sst amp was the taste test I was referring to.

Ohh wherever possible, it's got to be vinyl every time for me!  I say wherever possible coz up until recently, I didn't have a stereo (gawd strewth! stereo!  It's all digital surround sound now isn't it? lol)  to play them on but now I do it's constantly in use; I don't think you get the depth of sound with a cd and the atmosphere of live performances is much more evident on vinyl. Although the tracks on a cd can sound pretty good, they can be engineered within an inch of their life's to a point where they sound very sterile, give me the odd click, crackle skip and jump any day!

I prefer CD for sound quality, and sound quality is important to me. Vinyl however, would always inspire a sense of occasion when you first brought a new LP home. Gatefold sleeves, coloured vinyl, liner notes, lyrics and artwork. It was all more tangible than a CD and much more of an event to open for the first time. There was definitely a magical element to vinyl that CD, MP3 and streaming will never recapture.

Hey guys, since I have some responses, I would also like to ask you guys. Do any of you have experience with the 180/200 gram vinyl that's out. I bought 2 on my birthday last year. Chicago Transit Authority and King Crimson- in the court of the Crimson King. First off they both were remasters. Second Chicago was 180 gram and King Crimson was 200 gram. Quite honestly unless they were exactly the same album I don't think I could judge the sound by the weight. But sonically, they seem pretty amazing. Now, maybe this had something to do with the remaster. I will get more though. Any one else have experiences/ suggestions on new vinyl remasters?

VINYL...VINYL....and More VINYL.....I've Been Collecting Vinyl for Years.  You get so much more out of the whole Vinyl Album than with just the CD.....Just the Art work on the Album covers is bigger and some albums had extras inside of them...ect...  You can't beat a Vinyl Record.....
