Listen to some very early recordings of the Beatles when they were called The Beatals! I believe they must be some home recordings!

First time I heard of them having the name Beatals. I know they were originally called Beetles. Regardless, Enjoying the share Barry.. I thought Stuart actually came up with the name “Beetles” and John turned it into “Beatles” with an “a”.

Cool! In terms of names, I always thought they went straight from the Quarrymen to being The Beatles...

Yeah I had never heard of the name Beatals being used either, and I doubted the accuracy of this until I saw the hand written note by Paul!

I have never heard of The Beatals either, I have heard of The Quarrymen, Johnny and The Moondogs, The Silver Beetles, and yes I also heard that John added the "a" to represent that they were a beat group.

Yeah John liked the double meaning with the "A" in the spelling, he also liked the similarity to The Crickets.
