Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

I am just starting to get into The Kinks, and I am really digging them. What does everybody else think? Where do they rank on the classic rock hierarchy?

Sorry in advance if this has been discussed already. If it has, can someone please point me in the right direction.

From my own perspective - I have rather wide and eclectic tastes (see my blog) - classic rock is much more than the artists CRN limits itself to. Sure, I'd include the Kinks in the "big picture" classic rock flow chart. They're an excellent example of a British invasion band that didn't flame out after one or two singles or albums. Look at their early stuff like All Day and All Night and You Really Got Me and follow their progression to late in their career. It's a fascinating journey.
Definitely near the top. Some of their songs rank among some of Lennon/McCartney's best tunes. Like the song, Waterloo Sunset.
