Neil Young: Better in CSNY or better solo?

Neil Young was certainly the most prolific solo band member of the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young supergroup, going on to write many solo albums of his own, particularly the acclaimed 'Harvest' and 'Harvest Moon' albums. But the question is, was he better when he was in CSNY, or do people prefer his solo material? My personal favorites are 'Helpless' with CSNY, and then 'War of Man' from Harvest Moon for his solo stuff. Let's hear what you all think...

I love CSNY. And each member has had successful solo careers but none more so than Young. He has to be a stand alone "group" aside from CSNY. He's endured so long as a solo act and fronting Crazy Horse that he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in '95 for that solo career - and two years later as part of Buffalo Springfield along with Stephen Stills. He entered Canada's Music Hall of Fame in 1982. He's compiled 33 solo albums and 6 live albums. He's still going strong. When he toured to support Living With War a couple of years back he easily demonstrated who among CSNY was the real rocker. I like the idea of a CSNY group. I think it stands alone. But I also think Neil Young's career achievements merit a separate group for this outstanding artist. Why don't we have both?

HEY, OUTSIDE OF HELPLESS, CROSBY, STILLS, AND NASH DID A OK WITHOUT YOUNG, I LOVE NEIL YOUNG ALA OLD MAN, AFTER THE GOLD RUSH, HEART OF GOLD, AND A COUPLE MORE, SO I THINK HE WAS GREAT SOLO, (HATE NEIL YOUNG ELECTRIC GUITAR PLAYING THOUGH) THAT FIRST CROSBY STILLS AND NASH ALBUM IS THE END ALL BE ALL AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED, UNTIL YOU GET TO SOUTHERN CROSS, BUT THE VOCAL HARMONIES ARE TRULY IN THE TRIO, NEIL IS AN EXTENSION ON THE HIGH END, BUT NASH DOES JUST FINE ON HIS OWN, SO NEIL YOUNG SOLO IS WHERE ITS AT, BY THE WAY WHILE IM AT IT, I LIKE THE BEATTLES MEMBERS SOLO STUFF BETTER THAN THEIR COLLECTIVE WORK AS FAR AS DAY TO DAY LISTENING!
