Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

Way back when I was in high school, I thought it would be a great idea to count all the 'Baby's (and 'Babes', and all it's variations) Robert Plant sings in every single Led Zeppelin (studio) song. We got out a pad and pencil and used the old tally sheet of four vertical lines and crossing them out to make five, to make it easier to count.

So my friend Marty and I began to count: The winner was Candy Store Rock from Presence, he sings 'Baby' 44 times. The next highest was, I believe, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, with either 38 or 39 'Baby's'.

I think overall Led Zeppelin I had the most, as there are two songs with the word "Baby" or "Babe" in the title: "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" and "I Can't Quit You, Baby", so naturally this would have the most 'baby's overall.

It took a really long time, I think we stayed awake all night with this crazy antic. We did fight a little bit, but all-in-all, it was rather fun!!

I don't remember any of the others, sorry ;)

The biggest controversy comes from In Through The Out Door and the song Fool In The Rain, where Plant sings "whoa b..." and I was sure he was saying Whoa Babe or Baby, but my friend Marty disagreed, so we played it over and over, as it turns out I won!! Wahoo!! This was just one of the many silly things me and my friends did in high school.

If you have any crazy or silly stories like this, involving Led Zeppelin, please do share them. I know I, (and I would think other Zep fanatics) would like to hear them!!

I will try and think of more and post more blogs in the future. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog!

A short but sweet blog :D

That is so hilarious! I never thought about that before - he sure does like to say the word baby! That has to be one of the best original blog posts ever on this site! Love it...
