Duane Allman, founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, passed away as the result of a motorcycle accident in 1971, just weeks shy of his 25th birthday. Yet, he was an in-demand session musician, spent several years in that capacity at famed Muscle Shoals, traded licks with Eric Clapton on the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs By Derek and the Dominos and formed 2 other groups with brother Gregg before they achieved success as the Allman Brothers.
