Jim Morrison's New Haven Arrest

Concatenation. A series of events that leads from one to another, the cosmic clicking of kinetic balls that in retrospect seem inexorable and inevitable. that’s arguably what lead up to the events in New Haven, Connecticut December 9, 1967.

The events that happened the night before in Troy, New York, on December 8th, Morrison’s 24th birthday, set in motion the events that lead to Jim Morrison‘s arrest in New Haven. By all accounts, the Troy show was a terrible. First, Morrison missed a plane and ended up taking a limo to the show. The audience was unresponsive, Morrison couldn’t get the audience interested in the songs and at one point he said, “if this is Troy then I’m with the Greeks.” After The Doors set there were no calls for an encore. Depressed that the show had bombed, instead of taking a plane to New Haven for the next night’s show Morrison insisted on being driven down in the hired car.
