They started out in biker bars and got their name from their fondness for marijuana. But, boy, could they play. I was attracted to the Doobie Brothers because they had two drummers. They also had two lead guitarists: Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons. They had three when Jeff “Skunk” Baxter joined them later from Steely Dan.
