Joe actually grew up in Utica,NY and not far from where I grew up.  A guitar friend of mine knew Joe and his dad well. He used to play with Joe when he was a kid. Joe is down to earth and grounded and still remembers Mike and refers to him as one of his mentors in life. Picture of Midnight Mike and Joe Bonamassa then ( 25 years ago) and one of them taken recently.

The group's members were drummer Erin Davis (son of Miles Davis), rhythm guitarist Waylon Krieger (son of Robby Krieger), and bassist and lead vocalist Berry Oakley Jr. (son of Berry Oakley), along with guitarist  Joe Bonamassa (his parents were musicans but not famous) The band wanted Joe Bonamassa out after their first album. They basically said he wasn't cool enough. They wanted to get into Alternative Music. At that time Joe was a teenager and wasn't singing at all.  Joe got a vocal coach and worked on his vocals for a couple years.
