I loved getting live releases from my favorite bands back in the day since they were kind-of a "greatest hits" compilation. Excluding "Frampton Comes Alive", which one gets your vote?

That's a tough, but great question. For me, I would have to say Led Zeppelin's BBC Sessions live album is right up there. Its just breathtaking - and has some amazing moments, particularly the extra guitar solo that Pagey fits so perfectly into 'Thankyou' (makes me wonder whether it should have been in album version!). It also has some great rare tracks like 'The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair' and some great blues songs, like 'Mess of Blues'. Go listen to now if you haven't already...
Good call. I hear that one from time to time on Pandora and it always makes me do a second take to check the title since the songs are really good. I should have asked for "favorite" live album since it can be different from "best" and it's making rethink my choice........
Van Morrison It's too late to stop now

Van The Man at his best
Black Sabbath - Past Lives, Aerosmith - Live Bootleg (not an actual bootleg, duh), Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won and, of course, Double Live Gonzo. Just keep telling yourself "maybe this is all just an act and Ted is actually just a Libertarian."

Very tough and I can't really nail one down, so here are some of my faves :

Unleashed In The East - Judas Priest

Live In The Heart Of The City - Whitesnake

No Sleep 'Till Hammersmith - Motörhead

Live - Status Quo

Made In Japan - Deep Purple

At Budokan - Cheap Trick

"Absolutely Live" by The Doors and "Live Killers" by Queen, "Live At Monterey '67" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience would definetely be on my top list

Well....I like

Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii

Johnny Cash - Live at Folsom Prison (Not really Classic Rock, but also damn good!)

Bob Dylan - Live at Budokan

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same

Yes you did! :-)

Only today?

No one mentioned J.Geils Band???...Full House is still considered one the best live albums to be recorded.

Now you are talking!!

a big fan of J.Geils here

i was lucky enough to catch them live in the 70s in london

the most enjoyable concert i have ever attended

pity there is no live footage of the Geils at that time

i could only find the rockpalast dvd

but all their good stuff where left out from that concert

Allman Brothers "At the Fillmore" '71 is one of the best

Moody Blues at Red Rock

Nirvana - Unplugged

The Who - Live at Leeds

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Live Rust

I know it's not a live album but Neil Young and Pearl Jam at the '93 MTV music awards doing "Rockin' in the Free World" is a jam not to be missed.
