I think you'd have to add ZZ Top to this although some people would argue that the Texas trio hardly qualifies as southern rock. I think if you look at the foundation of their music its rooted in Southern blues.
One of my favorites from the era was the Dixie Dregs. (Founded by current Deep Purple phenomenal guitarist Steve Morse.)
To round out that category I'd add Molly Hatchet, Black Oak Arkansas, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Wet Willie, 38 Special and add nods to Elvin Bishop and Charlie Daniels.
You are good. I had forgotten some of those bands. Charlie Daniels was great live.
It seems a bit ironic. Not liking genre labeling at the same time being a member of "Classic" Rockers Network.
I get what you are saying though. Good music is good music and I can enjoy the magic of the composition whether it's Metallica or Mozart.
Sometimes those lines between genre's get very blurred. The Band could swing back and forth between rock and country in the span of a C chord.
