Spirit in the sky.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah and the memories.  ;)

Good choice on Greenbaum. He was great live.

I almost forgot...

Blues Image - Ride Captain Ride

Love that song. Could never figure out what it was about though.

It was about the USS Pueblo incident.

Blues Image guitarist Mike Pinera went on to play with Iron Butterfly.

Think about the lyrics...

73 men sailed from the SF Bay.  The Pueblo had a crew of 63 and was based in the Bay area.

Ride Captain Ride on your mystery ship. - The Pueblo was a spy ship for the US Navy.

I heard from a local DJ that the song was about singer Mike Pinera spotting a UFO around the San Francisco area..hey maybe simply too much partying that night!

I met Pinera at an Iron Butterfly show back in the early 70s after they released Metamorphosis. What little bit I can recall is he was an awesome guitarist and didn't suffer from "Rock-star-ism".

They were on the same bill with Strawberry Alarm Clock and "Teegarden & Van Winkle."  Dave Teegarden went on to be the core drummer for Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band after original drummer Charlie Martin was hit by a car..

Wow! That is some good info.

I saw Iron Butterfly in 69 at the Palm Beach Rock Festival. They were the first band to play and opened with Ina Godda Davida. Awesome!

Saw Alarm Clock play at my high shool in I think 69. Opening act was a band called Lynard Skynard. Alarm Clock's guitarist went on to join Skynard.

You are talking about Ed King, another fantastic guitarist. Talk about coincidence...

Steve Gaines replaced Ed King in the band and then went one to die in the plane crash 2 years later.  Ed King and Steve Gaines had the same birthday.

Very Interesting

Sharona. The Knack. They had other good songs on the album, but they'd never make it past the censorship back then.

hahah I love Ballroom Blitz. It's kind of twisted
