Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

Both of these are truly great bands from different eras. Both of them have a 'classic' sound, yet one if from the 60's and 70's, and one is from the 90's/00's. And both of them have caused controversy by some of their statements.

The Beatles said - 'We are bigger than Jesus'.

Oasis said 'We are bigger than the Beatles'.

There are definitely similarities when it comes to their music too - take a listen to 'What's The Story Morning Glory' by Oasis, it certainly shows their Beatles influence, particularly songs like She's Electric, and their guitar chords are often as simplistic as the Beatles.

Personally, I love Oasis, but they still pale in comparison to the Beatles.

AAaaagghh!  How can you even contemplate posing a question like this Rich?  It's non-starter!

The Beatles are the best-selling band or musical act in history, with estimated sales of over one billion units according to Guinness World Records.[2] They have had more number-one albums on the UK charts and have held the top spot longer than any other musical act. According to the RIAA, as of 2012 they have sold 177 million units in the US, more than any other artist, and in 2008 they topped Billboard magazine's list of the all-time most successful Hot 100 artists. As of 2012, they hold the record for most number-one hits on the Hot 100 chart with 20. They have received 7 Grammy Awards from the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score and 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. They were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most influential people.

I don't know dude, for me I'd rather compare ELO to the Beatles than Oasis. I personally hated them from the get go.

And by the way ELO no way trumps to the Beatles I just think it would have been a better comparison.

The Beatles, theres no contest!

Noel Gallagher attempting to sing Help.  Oh dearie me, how painfull is this?!

Obviously there is no contest really, as everyone already said, but one thing I will say about Oasis is that they wrote lots of anthemic songs that whole stadiums of people will sing along to, a bit like Queen in that respect actually. Definitely Maybe was a decent album, I always thought Blur were a more interesting band though. But you can't compare them with the Beatles, the Monkees would be more apt, ha ha!

The Beatles are by far the superior band!

Artists are still inspired by the Beatles music to this day. Oasis is great but the Beatles' songs are what made them so incredible. Oasis's songs are catchy but not transcendent. John's songs have even reached Bermudian artists.

Ditto x 1,000!

The Beatles there should be no disputing this.
