What Do You Think About The Two Post-Morrison Recordings By The Remaning Doors?

It always annoys me that you rarely, if ever, see on a Doors retrospective box set anything off of the Door's post-Morrison albums: "Other Voices" and "Full Circle". I've always feltthat many of their post-Morrison material although not stellar, beign damned good. For example, "ships with sails" is such a beautifull piece of music, most underrated. I was curious what other Door's fans felt about these two post-Morrison releases. I think they are worthy albums, that the diehard Door's fans dig. Morrison was terrific, no doubt, but least we not forget the driving force of the Doors suond, the three musicans on drums, guitar, and organ.

Very good question! I do agree that these albums barely get an recognition, and contain some real gems. One of my particular favorites on Other Voices is Tightrope Ride - proves that Ray really should have sang on more Doors song! Very funky little number.

There is also some debate as to how much influence Jim Morrison had on the songs on these albums - I am sure that some of them had been 'penned' or started while Jim was still alive.

Do you know where you can buy these CDs? Its pretty hard to find these - and the imports are pretty expensive...
I picked up remasterd Russian imports of both albums years ago on line...or at vintage vinyl, here in NJ. I've had he vinyl for years, probably since the 1980s. I still the vinyls around, and they average about 10.00 in nm shape. I do not doubt that some of the material was beign worked on prior to Jim's death, but how much influence he had on the material is debatable. The sound changed agreat deal after LA Woman, more organic than blues, less commercial and polished, a bit rawer with Ray's vocals. I read that by Jan. of 1973, whilst in a London hotel room, looking to interview potential Morrison replacements, the band called it a day..first Ray, then the remaning two members...I could not fathom carrying on after Jim's death-it was a valiant effort, but simply not the asme without the fourth missing member.
Awesome. Pure poetry
