The Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Solo of All Time: The Poll
Classic rock fans (like you and I) are forever talking about their
choice of favorite classic rock solos - and there is often much
debate as to which is the best. So. Thought I would create a poll
that will finally put this debate to rest - 'The Greatest Classic
Rock Guitar Solo of All Time!
And I spiced it up a little too - I actually
TOOK OUT STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN as a choice - mainly because it
would probably dominate the votes, just like it did for the 'Best
Classic Rock Song of all Time' poll. There are plenty of other
great choices - Layla, Purple Haze, Heartbreaker, Free Bird, and
more! So get voting - and remember you can only vote once!
I think Larry has a great choice - Terry Kath's solo in 25 or 6 to 4 is legendary - wha wha on a par with Hendrix & Clapton, incredible dynamics and energy!! I hate when radio cuts that song down by 60 seconds to fit their alotted radio time - they always cut the solo!!!
Check out Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover for a great solo in classic rock vein (more fusion, though) Let's not forget Steely Dan's Bodhisattva and others
Sorry if you voted for While My Guitar Gently Weeps!! That's Eric Clapton playing the solo through a Leslie speaker on a Stratocaster - not George Harrison.
