You are SO right! I had this discussion with my wife just the other day. No liner notes, photos you can't see, lyrics you can't read! I have boxes of albums in the attic. ( I suspect I'm a little older than you are too!) Another thing, I miss the huge speakers that we could use as end tables and vibrate the walls with a depth of sound that just doesn't come from the MP3 stuff.
Albums to own, wow where to start. I could stay here for days and I don't know what you already have. In my mind, a complete Cream set, Who's next, Quadraphenia, Who are You, A COMPLETE Tull set (yes I have that!), Machine Head (deep purple), Complete Pink Floyd set and of course Zepplin (the first 4 are my favorites!) on and on and on. Good luck finding them too! My daughter has already laid claim to my boxes! (I raised her right!)
You are SO right. No liner notes, photographs, lyrics you can't read...I had this discussion with my wife the other day. I also miss the heavy speakers that vibrated the walls. The new things just sound tinny to my old ears.
Albums: Where to start? I collect by band mostly. ALL of Tull (yes, every single album!), ALL of Cream, All of Pink Floyd. Other indispensable: Machine Head (deep purple), Allman Brothers live at Fillmore east, Who's next and Quad and Who are You and of course, Tommy. and on and on and on!
