Just discovered Jimi's Band of Gypsys material with a dvd documentary plus full concert from New Years '70..great material like Who Knows and Power of Soul stands out with Blues and Soul influences. However, I Machine Gun has been one of my favorite songs for 25 years! I also discovered the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert from Germany in '91 with the great Randy Hansen, Uli Jon Roth and others. Every song sounds just as they did on my tapes in the 80s.

‎1969, Appearing live on The Lulu Show on UK TV, Jimi Hendrix was booked to perform 2 songs, Voodoo Child, (which he performed in full), then he stopped performing his new single 'Hey Joe' after a verse and chorus and instead launched into a version of the Cream song 'Sunshine Of Your Love' as a tribute to his friend Eric Clapton and the band who had split a few days earlier. Hendrix then proceeded to continuing jamming, running over their allocated time slot on the live show, preventing the show's host Lulu from her standard closing of the show. No confirmation that Lulu sent Jimi a note addressed "To Sir, with consternation."

BBC News had a cool interview with Jimi's sister, Janey, the other day to commemorate his "would've been" 70th birthday! Miss you, Jimi!

Not sure if this has already been posted elsewhere on here (I'm a newbie so please cut me some slack) but he has a new album of unreleased material due out in March - should be interesting to say the least.

November 27, 2012 marks Jimi Hendrix’s 70^th birthday.  This man single-handedly changed music Forever.  Share your thoughts and feelings about Jimi Hendrix and remember to honor the man on his birthday.
