Classic Rock Fan Community: Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Doors & More

....as other great bands? Don't get me wrong. A LOT of people know about them, but for some reason, they are not held in the same regards as The Beatles or Rolling Stones.....even The Who. Why is that?

I want to preface this with the fact that I love Led Zeppelin, and that I know that this comment is gonna go down with fans like a.... well,  a lead balloon. I think that the singer and lyrics are pretty light weight. It is like Ringo (the weakest link) was the singer in The Beatles. Blues music of the power they produced needed something a lot deeper than Robert Plant could do. And I love Robert Plant as well before yous start! I just think somebody bigger, who could write good original lyrics, could have resulted in a band that we wouldn't have been here asking this question about. Plus people don't really dig pure blues that much generally, needs to be sanitized.

I'm happy to take part to this discussion and this is my first post on this forum. Sorry for my bad english... ;-)

It's really simple, Led Zeppelin, despite many others, decided to become a mystical band. The four symbols, no band logo and album name on LZ IV, etc... They are the wizards of rock. And good wizards are able to hide from mass stupidity and be kept in secret as a good old formula.

You don't hear about them everyday, That's true. You don't hear their songs in bad movies or in commercials. You don't have 2'000 greatest hits in store. You don't have bad reissues or bad Live album ruining their music... Led Zeppelin is a special band. Every time you listen to LZ It makes you feel that you are the only person on earth to know their secret, to understand their music (especially today).

Maybe you don't hear a lot about them everyday, but when they come back with a new live album or, for an example, the London 02 concert, everyone is blown away. Millions of fans are being hysterical  I mean, this shows how big they still are today.

My father introduced me in rock and roll with Black Sabbath and Hendrix when I was a kid. I discovered Led Zeppelin 10 years ago, when I was 15 and this band had the biggest impact in my life than any other. Led Zeppelin is more than rock, this is pure music and imagination. This will simply last forever.
