Oh God, I'm not much of a favorites guy.
I agree. McCartney is too easy to dismiss. Careful attention to his playing does prove his brilliance.
I look at all the previous posts and can nod my head in approval with them all. However, I would like to give a mention to John Glascock who played bass for Jethro Tull between '75 and '80. He was a wonderful bassist who's life was cut short at the height of his powers, when he died after complications following heart surgery. He was 28 years old.
John was replaced by Fairport bassist Dave Pegg who juggled life with Tull and Fairport for several years. He is also an unsung bass master.
