If you could go back in time for The Doors..
Hi, as a Doors fan for 20 years now, I always wished I could go back in time even if for only one evening and watch a Doors show with Morrison. I got to see Manzarek and Krieger some years ago and though they were amazing and I felt in heaven watching them play in front of me, was not really the same without Morrison, so my question is, if you had the oportunity of going back just one evening and attend a Doors show, what would that show be? Here's the options (ok we can pick one of the "wild shows" and one of the doors in their best shows ;) )
THE WILD SHOWS
Whiskey A Go Go 1966 August 18th
New Haven 1967 December 9th
Singer Bowl NY 1968 August 2nd (and there's also The Who, a plus :D )
Dinney Key Auditorium, Miami 1969 March 1st
Warehouse, New Orleans 1970 December 12th (last show with Morrison)
THE DOORS IN THEIR BEST SHOWS
The Matrix Club San Francisco,1967 March 11th
Hollywood Bowl 1968 July 5th
The Roundhouse, London UK 1968 September 7th
Madison Square Garden New York, NY 1969 January 24th
Aquarius Theater Hollywood, CA 1969 July 22nd
Pittsburgh Civic Arena , PA 1970 May 12th
Isle Of Wight Festival, UK 1970 August 29th
State Fair Music Hall Dallas, TX 1970 December 11th (the first of the only two times they played all together the "L.A Woman" songs live)
My pick will go for:
The Wild Show, hard pick, but for years I've been saying it would be Miami 69, I know musically it was terrible but how wonderfull would be to go back to that evening in the flesh and witness rock history
As for the Doors in their best show...it's again a very hard choice but I think I'd go for The Matrix show (s), specially cause they played a lot of stuff from "Strange Days" which they usually wouldn't play live and it's my favorite album of theirs. Besides, might be one of the few where I could actually get closer to the band :D

I grew up near so many venues that Jim and The Doors played, unfortunately I was too young to see any of them.
I drove by so many places that they either played at or lived when I was young and never had a clue of the history I was passing by. Sad.

Wow - you are quite the expert Doors fan! I have heard the matrix tapes before, but lost them a long time ago. Does anyone have any great bootlegs of any of these shows?

Cool question! I would just like to go back and see them at The Whisky, any time that would be cool. But I'd like to take a side trip and go and see the young me in kindergarten or 1,2 or 3rd grades, that would be an interesting trip.

I was born 6 years after Jim's death so would be impossible to catch myself back then, but a time travel machine would work good enough for me even if it was just to attend one Doors show. As I said, I was really glad I could catch Ray and Robby in concert some years ago, was really something to hear them playing Doors songs but could never be the same without John and Jim.
