In the late 70s I was working the evening shift, Mondays thru Saturdays at a Canadian all-news radio network. Anyone who knows about shift work knows that their internal clock is screwy. Would I go to bed when I got home? No I’d usually make myself some dinner and watch Carson. But Saturdays were even better. That’s when Midnight Special aired and that was must-see TV for any rock fan.
I recall new wave having an influence on music about this time and one of the major influences was Deborah Harry and Blondie.
