1963 – “Surf City” by Jan & Dean is leading American singles charts just 2 weeks after it’s release. The anthem of teen Utopia where there is “two girls for every boy” was given to them by Beach Boy, Brian Wilson, and starts a close association between the 2 California surf groups.
1967 – Jimmi Hendrix records “Burning Of The Midnight Lamp” at Mayfair Recording Studios in NYC.
1968 – Iron Butterfly classic “Inna Gadda Da Vida” enters the charts at #117. It goes on to become one of the biggest selling rock albums of all time.
1968 – Jane Asher tells a reporter that her engagement to Paul McCartney is off. Paul is at a friend’s house watching the news and learns of this at the same time the rest of the world does.
1973 – Genesis Live is released in the UK, a recording made during a live US. radio broadcast. Their next live album wouldn’t be issued until June of 1982.
