1971 – The Rolling Stones sue manager, Allen Klein, for falsely representing the group with intent to deceive and defraud them. The Stones are looking for $7.5 million.

1973 – Bob Dylan’s “Knockin On Heaven’s Door” is released from the film soundtrack Pat Garret and Billy The Kid.

1976 – Ode Records president, Lou Adler, is kidnapped at gunpoint by two men and a woman, demanding $25,000.00 ransom. The sum is paid and Adler is released eight hours later.

1963 – Phil Spector has his first #1 hit with the Ronettes “Be My Baby”. This song and three others will sell a million copies before years end.

1968 – Super Session, the highly acclaimed collaboration of Al Kooper, Stephan Stills and Mike Bloomfield, enters American rock charts.

1970 – Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary is arrested for taking “immoral liberties” with a fourteen-year-old girl.

1968 – “Hey Jude” from the Beatles is released in the United States.

1968 – John & Yoko Lennon perform one of the most successful benefit concerts ever. One on One raises nearly a quarter of a million dollars for mental challenged children.

1973 – Danny Seiwell quits Wings, the second member within a week to leave Paul McCartney’s band.
