1960 – Elvis Presley is heartbroken when farther, Vernon announces his plans to marry Dee Elliot, less that two years after his mothers death.

1969 – Recently departed Rolling Stone guitarist Brian Jones is found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool at his home in Hartfeild England.

1971 – Jim Morrison dies of a heart attack in the bath of his Paris home.

1973 – Gold Record is awarded to the Doobie Brothers for “The Captain and Me”.

1973 – David Bowie announces his retirement from live performances after a Hammersmith Odeon concert in London.

1975 – Chuck Negron, lead singer for Three Dog Night is arrested after police in Louisville when police find two grams of heroin and a gram of cocaine in his hotel room.

1976 – Brian Wilson returns to the stage for the first time in twelve years to join the Beach Boys at Anaheim Stadium for a sold out show of 74,000.

1981 – Former Doors player Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore join hundreds of fans in a graveside tribute to Jim Morrison at Pere Lachaire Cemetery in Paris.
