The Day in Rock 8/11 (Sorry for the delay)

1968 – The Beatles launch their own record label, Apple Records.

1973 – Producer, Bill Acoin, first sees Kiss playing at a New York hotel and offers them a record contract in two weeks.

1975 – Aerosmith is awarded a gold album for “Toys in the Attic”.

1976 – Keith Moon is hospitalized after collapsing in a Miami hotel. This is the second time Moon is hospitalized during their tour of the US.

1962 - The Beach Boys with “Surfin Safari”.
1973 – The Edgar Winter Group with “Free Ride”.

BIRTHDAYS

Eric Carmen, Cleveland Ohio, 1949. An original member of the Raspberries, he is best known for his solo hit “All By Myself”

Erik Brann, Boston, 1950. Guitarist with Iron Butterfly. He wnt solo in 1969 to for Flintwhistle.

Jeff Hanna, Detroit, 1947. Guitarist and song writer with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
