1959 – Joan Baez makes her first recording, a duet with Bob Gibson at the Newport Jazz Festival.

1969 – Jimmi Hendrix’s new Band of Gypsies appear in a concert for the first time at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

1979 – Neil Young’s film “Rust Never Sleeps” opens in L.A. The title song becomes one of Young’s biggest hits.
